"SNIP.....

“House Republicans plan to run on tried-and-true issues in 2020: repealing Obamacare and reducing the national debt, even though the GOP fell short of both goals the last time the party had full control of Washington,” Bloomberg reports.

Said House Minority Leader Kevin McCarth: “The first thing we would do is make sure our debt is taken care of.”

......SNIP"

Their point is we can't afford biden care or climate mitigation or any other democratic idea. They will repeat and repeat it. "We are too poor". Same way they decertified unions.Lies.

It's been pretty much standard operating procedure since the 90s.

The last wheezing gasp of actual concern about deficits by a Republican in power was GHWB signing a feeble reform of the unsustainable 1986 tax cuts.

The people who now completely control the Republican party are the ones who crucified him for it.

And he says it’s OK to vastly overspend on the military because defense is a legitimate function of the government and school for illegal immigrants and free health care for drug addicts is not. Anyway, that’s what he says.

Jeez, GOP has managed to create the ALL-TIME high National Debt with this Administration, and NOW all of a sudden, reducing it is a concern? I can see they're already preparing for a Democratic takeover of House, Senate and White House. They have their 'talking points' already lined up. Let's certainly hope that the Reporters who have the microphone (Fux Noise doesn't count) will have the cojones to ask about the reason why this Nation has the debt it currently has when the GOP starts spewing their nonsense.

The clarion call is now going to trumpet the need to cut everybody off of everything they can because those are useless expenditures. That is an obvious and typical cycle and the deficit becomes a ruse and a tool that they utilize after increasing it.

This time though, the situation is far more dire and at the level of a major crises brewing, so the services and programs really need to be expanded and increased just to maintain at least a semblence of societal order and functional structure since we have many 3rd-World realities emerging around us.

The cuts they are going to wield their barbaric axe at are not going to be as easy to justify or enact because of that. Add to that the relentless sucking sound of increasingly unequal distribution of wealth and, hopefully, more people will wake up to the potential of an impending Feudalism at hand.

There have been estimates that, if the wealthy and corporations continue the current trend of profit and acquisition of wealth, resources and property, they could literally own everything globally within a few decades. That should be a sobering thought and it does play into reasons for supporting the commons and well being of the population in general.

Donald campaigned/ran for Prez in 2000

Trump focused his campaign on the issues of fair trade, eliminating the national debt, and achieving universal healthcare as outlined in the campaign companion piece The America We Deserve, released in January 2000. He named media proprietor Oprah Winfrey as his ideal running mate and said he would instantly marry his girlfriend, Melania Knauss, to make her First Lady.

Donald recommended defaulting on the national debt.

Negotiating with the creditors to take less money.

Don’t forget that much of America’s debt is owned by Americans, not just the Chinese and other foreigners .

1. they delivered a tax cut. voters like tax cuts, even if they wind up paying more. it sticks it to the gubmint, and people hate gubmint.
2. the debt is growing. this is obviously the fault of tax-and-spend libtard soshlysts, and the only solution is to cut "waste".

it's a pretty easy sell; their internal polling and focus groups must tell them it will.
