I don't understand how impeachment serves as more effective deterrent against impeachable conduct when the opposition impeaches even when it would politically benefit the president to do so (& he'd remain in office). That actually incentivizes impeachable conduct, in fact.

I don't know if he's right or wrong, but it's hardly crazy to think impeachment followed by a corrupt senate clearing him of all charges and denouncing the whole exercise as baseless and partisan might actually help republicans politically.

Impeachment is *meant* to be a deterrent, but if the jury pool is in the defendant's pocket, it probably isn't very effective....

If the hearings uncover the kind of shit we KNOW they will, whether the House passes bills of impeachment is immaterial. trump is finished. And so is the Repub Party. Raking thru all that shit, with a timeline that ends about a month before the election will doom those assholes at the polls.

Remember he doesn't need a majority. He will just either one prevent enough votes against him from being counted or two prevent of enough people from voting at all so he can steal the electoral college again. Going to take significant courage to prevent Trump and republicans from stealing the election and if Democrats are to timid to impeach Trump their not showing us that they are ready for what's coming.
