(I.e. approving the additional funds for election security). He's obviously more worried about this one than anything in the past.

Throughout 2017, I thought Republicans in Congress would see just how toxic Trump is and want him gone long before the 2018 midterms. I thought they'd see the inevitable loss of the House, and possibly even the Senate, and take steps to stop the rot before it got too far.

Most of them probably knew full well how badly 2018 would go for their party. Many of them probably wouldn't have been sorry to see Trump out of the White House. The problem is the primary system. Trump's base wouldn't care if he ate a bowl of homestyle kitten stew on live television. And Republicans can't win their primaries without it. It's too small to carry many Republicans in general elections, but they'd never get to the general election without placating it.

Until Republicans accept the fact that their party can only survive if it suffers major losses in 2020, thereby defanging this execrable base, they'll have to have their heads so far up Trump's butt that they can see his vocal chords.

Except for bankruptcies, lies and wives, there are so many of those that he can walk his orange ass across (or use a golf cart, which he would).

US v Nixon, 1974, 9-0 SCOTUS decision that Nixon must comply with a subpoena & turn over the Watergate recordings.

Let's just hope there are Trump-Zelensky recordings, & they're subpoenaed.

Republicans don't care what he does, and Nancy seems pretty locked in to not impeaching him. If she were to start pushing for impeachment, I feel that most Dems would follow her lead.
