"SNIP.....

Reuters: “Details from a phone call made by Donald Trump that has led the U.S. House of Representatives to launch a formal impeachment inquiry against the president isn’t likely to come from a recording or be verbatim, former White House and national security officials say.”

“Instead, because of standard White House protocol for handling phone calls between the president and other world leaders, a transcript is likely to be put together from written notes by U.S. officials who listen in.”

1. Even if the transcript were based on a recording, it would still likely be false...

Trump's White House has produced, on more than one instance, transcripts which do not match PUBLICLY AVAILABLE AUDIO/VIDEO. What the hell does anyone expect from their transcripts on non-public conversation in which he commits crimes? OF COURSE they won't be verbatim, no matter how they are produced.

Keep several things in mind:

1) There are conflicting reports over whether or not Trump has promised to release the actual whistleblower complaint, or merely the transcript of the call.

2) There's no way Trump is going to release anything that may lead to his impeachment.

3) If there was really nothing in the complaint to justify impeachment, they wouldn't have tried to prevent it from being released in the first place.

So, therefore, I predict that they're either going to release a completely sanitized transcript and conveniently "forget" about their promise to release the complaint, or (more likely) release a similarly sanitized version of the complaint, and then fight like hell to keep the whistleblower from testifying as to whether their released version is accurate.

In any event, release of whatever it is that they decide to release will be accompanied by firestorm of manufactured narrative from Republican politicians and conservative pundits, loudly and triumphantly proclaiming that whatever they release "proves" that there's no substance to Democratic charges. If they go with the entire complaint (in whatever modified form), expect the parallel claim that, since Pelosi used refusal to release the complaint as the grounds for the impeachment inquiry, Democrats must now immediately abandon that inquiry, especially since it's been "proven" that any charges are groundless. And, in any event, expect lots of comments, both in news and social media, from Trump allies declaring, essentially, "Suck it, libtards! You lose again!"

Expect it, because it's coming, and it will be relentless. Let's just hope the media has learned from the Barr summary fiasco, and doesn't once again prematurely declare the matter closed and decide that it's time to "move on." Because, if it happens again, there's truly no hope left.
