Trump tweets with fury, says impeachment push helps him

NEW YORK (AP) — Fifty-eight floors above Manhattan, President Donald Trump watched his legacy change and his political future grow more uncertain.

The president, back in his hometown of New York for the U.N. General Assembly, was taking “executive time” at his Trump Tower penthouse late Tuesday afternoon when Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced that the House was launching a formal impeachment inquiry against him. Pelosi’s move increases the odds that Trump will become the third U.S. president to be impeached.

It was a step more than 2½ years in the making and one that moves the president farther down the path of self-styled political martyrdom.

The product of Trump’s norm-breaking presidency and Democrats’ lingering anger over the outcome of the 2016 election, the impeachment inquiry has largely been welcomed by the Republican president’s advisers, who believe it could backfire against Democrats. The president himself said the move could help his electoral chances, but he reacted in the moment with a cascade of angry tweets that accused Democrats of engaging in “a witch hunt” and “presidential harassment.”

There is a comment further down in that article that mentions this. If he is found guilty of cheating on his taxes, some heads should also roll at the IRS. And his penalties/interest will hopefully wipe him out.

It will be interesting to see how this all settles out in the end.

This is about a President corrupting the Executive branch and using the office against our own Constitution. This is about a mobster thinking he has taken over the U.S. and can use the office for his own enrichment and glorification.

We have to push back on that as the various investigations move forward. Our House needs to know we've got their back.

It's time for every Who down in Whoville to make some noise.

when they were talking with (I think) Jim Acosta not long after Pelosi's remarks concluded and Acosta was staring at his phone completely flabbergasted while he uttered something along the lines of "he's tweeting.... just --stream-of-consciousness" while shaking his head.

I swear, Trump has the most simplistic, juvenile mind. He thinks that simply by saying, "This is what I WANT!!!" that we'll respond by saying, "Oh yeah? Then we're not gonna do it! So there!!!"

If he honestly believed that impeachment helped him, why would he be trying so hard to stop it? He really does think on the level of a 4th grader.
