I believe it was my subconscious's tribute to Nancy Pelosi, and showed up after I caught her interview wth the Atlantic. First, she would not be led off track by the interviewer; second, she quoted the Ben Franklin story about "a republic, not a monarchy," that she related again in her speech to the nation about the impeachment inquiry.
"Like a tree standing by the water/we shall not be moved."
