EXPEDITED IMPEACHMENT!

Last edited Wed Sep 25, 2019, 11:13 PM - Edit history (1)

Just heard on the radio this is why Pelosi wants to focus solely on the Ukraine matrer, to make things move faster.

Whatever is in the whistleblower report is so bad, they want this mofo gone yesterday.

"House Democrats are coalescing around a strategy to narrow the focus of their impeachment inquiry to President Donald Trump's interactions with the president of Ukraine, an issue that has unified the party in outrage and motivated some Democrats to seek expedited action.

The strategy, described by Democratic lawmakers and aides familiar with the talks, would center on streamlining the consideration of articles of impeachment to focus exclusively on Trump's efforts to pressure Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to investigate Joe Biden — a push they say included an implicit threat to withhold military aid to the Eastern European country."

Full discovery is going to expose every nasty little detail of this. And more. Things we don't even know yet.

Think about that -- Headline news, every minute for 24/7 until the election. The Senate republicans will be forced to defend what trumpie did or oppose it. They are going to have to go on record.

Even Bitch McConnell is up for re-election in 2020. Why do you think 40% of republicans are either retiring or not standing for re-election ? They can see the handwriting (in black Sharpie) on the wall and it aint pretty.

When the full extent of the damage is assessed, trumpie is going down. As Rep (D-TX) Al Green said, "We have reached critical mass."

His people are definitely going to do everything possible to run out the clock (14 months).

And there might be an added bonus to moving quickly, and focusing on a set of acts which can be directly linked to national security interests -- it will make all the Congressional Repukes have to publicly choose between fealty to Dump45 and American strength/safety. Either way there is a clear avenue of attack for their opponents in the next election.

But to only go after a single article does not bring justice to other serious charges and sends the message that some law breaking is fine. I would instead narrow it to the easy to prove stuff. Ukraine is one. Hush money is another. Obstruction of Justice where the low hanging fruit is located. That might allow up to 5 articles.

To do that you have to keep the reasons easily understood, not require a lot of explanation, and grievous enough that most people will understand why he has to go. I was hoping for this, even though some of the Dem committee chairs was to add a lot of their findings to the charges. The Mueller findings were obvious to all of us who monitor this stuff every day, but the majority of Americans don't, and all that inside baseball needed too much explanation for a majority to get it!

Thanks Nancy!

and then should go directly to articles or impeachment and a vote on such.

This investigation by the House has gone on a very long time already, and the Public is getting tired. The acts described in the Mueller Report were serious and some are impeachable offences, BUT they aren't extremely clear to the Public. THESE particular acts, described in the WB Complaint ARE easily understood and should not take an extremely long time to complete investigating. I just don't want this to get into the weeds so much that the public would lose interest!

A court decision is due in November that will force Deutches bank and Trump's accountants to release their records to congress, records that will almost certainly contain incriminating evidence about fraud and money laundering for Russia.

That evidence should be included in impeachment proceedings along with Ukraine evidence, and would give the best shot at getting Republican support for removal, as the GOP would need time to find a new nominee for 2020, since Trump's chances would be next to nil before the primaries even start.

35. Question
Thu Sep 26, 2019, 12:21 AM
Sep 2019

I don’t think there would be anything prohibiting the House from passing impeachment resolution after impeachment resolution. Am I wrong?

The House can streamline one article and impeach POTUS, then declare Trump impeached setting in motion his Senate trial, but then continuing to vote on additional articles of impeachment.

IMO This president needs to be held to account for all “high crimes and misdemeanors.”

I think a strategy of Ukraine scandal first and only is surrender monkey logic. If you come at the King, you best not miss. The Democrats should aim for overkill.

and even if it were .. not sure how much of a "rush" you can put on these things. Assuming that subpoenas still must be issued .. make their way through the usual process. Some courts might cooperate by expediting (somewhat), but nothing says they have to. And these are pretty big issues. And then evidence uncovered often leads to other evidence. Not sure short cutting is either the way to go .. or ultimately possible. I guess Nancy would know far better than I. But .. I have to confess to some doubts.

He only knows how to double down. He practically paraded Zelensky out to say there was nothing wrong with the call. I felt bad for Zelensky. I wonder what was on the table for him to do that? More money? A threat from Uncle Vlad?

I think Republicans are putting up resistance because they have to. If Trump thinks he is losing support he'll sink the whole damn ship.
