Trump is a maze of psychological problems. You have to admit, in 2016 he tried everything he could to lose. That was the whole plan. He did not want to win, he just wanted to come in second and up his brand. The whole thing fell apart when he won. Now Trump went through some phases. First, shock he won. Next, he got used to the job and got rid of people that tried to contain him. Then he ran the Presidency like his business. But he discovered he could not do that, and more and more he is taking heat. The pressure must be getting to him. So maybe on a subconscious level he wants to be impeached. If he was removed from office, the pressure is gone. He could claim it was all a witch hunt, go back to mar-a-lago, play the victim and not have to do any of the work of President. Of course Pence would pardon him as he went out the door. Everybody wins. You never know with Trump. Look at today when he made remarks about the whistle blower to a crowd of over 50 people. He had to know somebody was recording. Like a criminal that wants to get caught and sent back to prison. Only in Trumps case, he wants to be sent back to the golf course.

(57,063 posts)that helps his bottom line. Could he make money talking at dinners and conventions to his basket of deplorables and John Bircher widows speaking on how unfairly lost his Presidency and be glad he was no longer in office. Maybe some Fox "news" invites.

(31,011 posts)Staying in the WH keeps that from happening.
Although, if he thinks he's going to lose and if he wants to be let off the hook, then resigning would be the way to go. Then Pence steps in and pardons him.

(15,751 posts)be impeached - figuring he could rely on Republican Senate votes, but not a criminal grand jury.
It seems to be to ltrump's advantage to have impeachment soon, and have it fail, before he slips any more in the polls. Ride through it like he rode through pussy grabbing, Manafort, gates, Mueller, etc.

(13,390 posts)Impeachment would give him a stage for both. It seems he does not see wrong doing as a possibility when his actions are designed to fulfill his needs, desires, or whims. So, it wouldn't surprise me if he were to embrace martyrdom, and ride it out.
On the other hand, even if he grasps the reality of the seriousness of impeachment, his security in the legitimacy of his behavior could lead him to dig in and fight it.
There are probably a few other possibilities I can't imagine, as well.

I think he would love to go back to his old life if he could figure out a way not to look like a loser. He doesn't like being president, but he doesn't want to give up the power or the attention either. He's also afraid of being prosecuted for the many crimes he has committed. I think he'd settle for a "deal" to walk away from it all.

(4,723 posts)He's like a big balloon that someone has untied and let go, so that it is sailing all over the room as it looses its air. Does he want it? On the plus size for him, it means people paying attention to him and "there's no such thing as bad publicity." On the other, it may mean he loses office and will have to pay for his crimes. Frankly, I think his brain is oatmeal, rendering him incapable of knowing what he wants--save maybe a Big Mac/Whopper/KFC chicken dinner/grease trap to lick clean.

For Trump, to struggle is to live. He may well have invited this on himself to have a battle to fight. That's why I think he will never resign.

(3,678 posts)He's a lazy fucker. He never wanted to have to attend all of these Official Events, learning about World Problems and Caring About Other People while dragging his gold-digging wife after him. That's why she cried the night he was elected. He wanted the fame, sure, but not the responsibility.
But his ego and hubris got the better of him and, once elected, he was trapped in the brightest spotlight in the world.
What a fucking moron! :p

(15,641 posts)was indeed shocked when he, in fact, did win. But he also always wanted to win. That is the core of tRump and the problem of his presidency. He always wants to win and always has. And he will do whatever it takes to do so.

(23,083 posts)Yes, he is a very ignorant and vainglorious ass who thinks he always gets his way, but he KNOWS he will go to jail if he's not president, he has broken so many laws he would definitely go down. That's the only reason he's fighting like a hellcat to again steal the election - his very freedom is at stake. He could have everything taken from him and rot in jail and he will do anything, a n y t h i n g, to stop that - even setting his minions to hurt the WB and anyone who talked to her/him.
