The Speaker of the House controls the House calendar and she has determined it's better not to cancel the recess.
Considering the chops she's demonstrated to the world in the last few days and how effectively she shown she's the true Master of the House, could you at least give her some credit for knowing what she's doing on this issue - and maybe take a little break from giving the Speaker instructions on how how she should handle her business?
That would be nice. Thank you.

(53,764 posts)the rest of the House members will go to their districts and hold town hall meetings and pass the word as to why the impeachment inquiry was enjoined.
I was upset too when I heard about the recess a couple of days ago but we're going to be ok.

(18,486 posts)In fact, most people in the country probably don't even notice whether the Bouse based on what they see on television. Members appear on cable news just as much during recess as they do when they're in session. Even when they're in session, Members usually appear via remote feed and they do the same thing during recess - it's just that their remote location is in their district.
In fact members get more coverage at the local level because they're in their districts, which works very much to their benefit. Everyrhing's not about what they're talking about on MSNBC, especially since they're going to talk about Trump 24/7 whether Congress is in session or not.
Trump isn't going to seize control of the media narrative in the next two weeks just because the House is on recess.

(5,693 posts)A recess will belie their claim of urgency and national security at stake. Plus, stall any momentum they have coming out of this. Sure, there will be a number of them still working on this. But a full on cancellation of recess would underscore just how important this impeachment inquiry is.
