Consider this: Trump's extortion demand on the President of the Ukraine was more than an attempt to cripple Joe Biden, his perceived threat to re-election.

What if Zelensky refused to assist or to make an investigation (IOW, make something up) to discredit Hunter Biden, and by extension, his father, Joe Biden. And Trump indefinitely held up aid to the Ukraine.

And Putin decided to take another chunk of the Ukraine and incorporated it into Russia. You'd have another international incident caused by Trump being Trump.

It's not national; it's international. And putting our national security in the line of fire.

1. it's all kinds of wrong. this is why it may actually get through to some republicans.

republicans have no conscience about violating laws to win election. nixon sabotaged peace talks and reagan/bush bribed terrorists to keep americans hostage longer so they could win elections, and they're fine with that.

but some elements of this may be a bridge too far even for them.

i think not keeping the intelligence community and the military in the loop rubs them the wrong way.

i think fabricating a legal case against a family member might be crossing a line for them.

but of course, the biggest sin is getting caught before he could win the election....
