Vice President Pence urged President Trump not to release a memo detailing his call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky this week amid a scandal over Trump's efforts to persuade the Ukrainian leader to direct an investigation into former Vice President Joe Biden.

The Wall Street Journal reported Friday that Pence fell in line and ultimately supported the report's public release, but privately counseled Trump against the matter when it was first raised. Some of Trump’s top aides have also been drawn into the scandal. The Washington Post reported that Trump asked his acting chief of staff, Mick Mulvaney, to hold back millions of dollars in military aid to Ukraine just days before the July 25 call with Zelensky, and the memo of Trump’s call showed the president urging Zelensky to work with Attorney General William Barr to investigate the Bidens.

The reluctance to release the information, however, could land Pence in some hot water.

According to previous reporting from HillReporter.com, the communication between the two presidents, according to the whistleblower and the sources they spoke with, was improperly placed in a server ordinarily reserved for information deemed to be of a highly-classified nature.

Officials told the whistleblower that “they were ‘directed’ by White House lawyers to remove the electronic transcript from [a different] computer system,” and to place it into the classified one. The whistleblower detailed the situation in their complaint ...
