He would readopt the old GOP hard-line anti-Russian position and DEMAND that Russia repatriate (? de-annex?) Crimea.

Just imagine what would happen.

2nd of all - PUtin owns him and he's totally aware of that, he would never cross PUtin because he'd be immediately taken out - probably incriminating video or audio would be released quickly.
