But, over the weekend, I got the impression he was working on his new defense for the impeachment process that will surely come before long. His tweets were even more bizarre than usual...particularly, those threatening Schiff, the whistleblower and Civil War. Many people were commenting that he was losing it, big time.
My thought is he is trying to build his defense by laying the groundwork for being "mentally incompetent to stand trial" at his hearing, and aiming for a mentally ill verdict, thus avoiding any time behind bars. He truly doesn't look good in stripes, nor black and white.
Don't forget, Ghouliani is his private lawyer and certainly capable of picking that strategy for his client (and, himself, if things work out the way I hope). Just sayin'.

(2,336 posts)He just shoots from the hip (or his mouth), pure impulse. He may sit in meetings and get ideas and advice but it's well known that the last person to whisper in his ear gets the win. He's a child. No more. No less. Since he believes he knows ALL better than anyone, he does not take advice or counsel. He relies on himself, his instinct (pretty sure he's said this but too lazy to find a quote).
My belief is it would be impossible for him to couch himself as mentally incapacitated in any way shape or form. Simply impossible since he is he anointed one, the chose one, the messiah (another thing I'm pretty sure he said but again, me lazy).
Impeachment also does not send one to prison. If passed in the Senate he would be removed from office, and then criminal charges, if any, could be brought. How Impeachment Process Works
