Andrea Mitchell needs to retire.

Holy crap. She literally can't finish sentences right now. She's just stuttering and trying to get out words, and nothing comes out so she just shakes her head until one of the guests decides to jump in.

retirement is wonderful. Well okay, I understand that some people truly cannot afford to retire, but even with a modest income not working is vastly better than working.

It is wonderful. It is freedom from overbearing bosses and annoying co-workers. Now it is just family, dogs, and cats - heaven.

and at this stage, you are burning leave days where you aren't working somewhere else and still getting your full paycheck.

And boy is it sweet!

I honestly wondered whether she was having a stroke on air, but she came back after the commercial.

But I don't normally watch her show, so I didn't know whether that was par for the course. Perhaps it is. I know she gets criticized here sometimes, and I know Alan Greenspan is her husband (but a lot of spouses wouldn't want to be associated with their partners' actions, so I make no assumptions), but I have no opinions about her; I just know that Rachel admires her, and she must have been a trailblazer for women in journalism. I wish her well.

and had many memorable interviews with world leaders. I think she has always had a halting speech pattern. Suspect her words need to catch up with her brain. She thinks too far ahead and spoken words cannot catch up.

... but a logical explanation might be that she's NEVER seen anything like this, and she...like me...is gobsmacked. Speechless. Fumbling for words.
Luckily, the Marine Corps provided me with a broad vocabulary, so when I'm gobsmacked, I just let loose.
I feel better then, and I think Andrea would feel - and do - better, too.
