Laura Bassett "we have to address the fact that the two parties play by different sets of rules"

Laura Bassett ✔ @LEBassett

Only Democrats have to explain in detail how to pay for their policies, just like only Democrats resign immediately after any perceived sexual misconduct. At some point we have to address the fact that the two parties play by different sets of rules

I'm not necessarily in favor of the party, and its members, climbing down into the pit of despicability where the repugs now dwell. But, I'm in favor of codifying anything that makes that muck inaccessible.

and is it even possible to achieve adequate code without lowering our standards first as well in order to get there? If not, what then? Seems to me we at least have to play hardball.

I think all we can do is pound this message of the Democrats playing by the rules and Republicans violating rules/norms/decency into the public consciousness.

Repeat, repeat, repeat.

No explanation besides the usual lie that has been proven for 50 years now that "tax cuts will pay for themselves". When our side tries to explain that Medicare expansion will actually reduce costs for the average person we have to go into great detail and specifics, which we do, but it is rather pointless. Oh yeah, and endless wars pay for themselves too.

Peace

It gets to the heart of what makes me so angry with Republicans and why I want to completely disassociate from them.
