this is his "cult" followers. They actually admire his lying, cheating, conman behavior. They want to be like him because they think they can be rich some day also. Of course they seem to forget that they could also end up in jail.

At his sentencing hearing, he could explain, he is a Republican and as such, he is obligated to lie, cheat and grift.

It the same as when Christians explain how their religion requires them to act as shits against gays. If that defense works for fundies, the parallel argument should work for Republicans.
