We reside in The United [Insert Which Applies] Kingdom/States of the Nonsensical.

The cultists all feel ‘betrayed’, instinctively they know that the modern world has moved on without them, and that they need to stop the world, and have it fit with their own selective version. They are supporters of [insert which applies] Brexit / Trump, the right-wing position for people whose whole lives are someone else’s fault. Our populist leaders [insert which applies] Johnson / Farage / Trump have effectively picked up on this feeling of betrayal and are pointing the finger of blame to everyone not just like them. This allows the cultists to have someone to fault for their shit and pitiful little lives. Impugning the ‘establishment’ of which they are a part, mocking the ‘elite’, censuring the ‘experts’ feeds their bases insecurities and they delight in our leaders making scapegoats of people who disagree with them. They are mean bullies. And every time our leaders flap their gums and tell them how unfair the establishment is being to them it feeds into their sense of victimhood and betrayal, and they like living there.

Trying to challenge the faithful is a waste of time. Using facts and data to support a policy position that points out the faults in the dear leader’s position is an outrage to them. It just eggs them on to be even more fervent, if that is even possible, it does not matter what lies these idols peddle, they have brought into their bollocks hook line and sinker. When you have a group of people who have been told ad infinitum that they have been ‘left behind’ in the post-world war 2 settlement, that nothing is their fault rather it is all ‘their’ fault, coupled within an obvious lack of ability to perspective take, this makes them easy targets for someone who gives them certainty - clear-cut simple ‘truths’. They have felt ignored and telling them they are important has puffed up their egos. Because of that they will follow them anywhere.

For some reason I cannot explain the faithful seemingly love a blustering buffoon of a posh boy, or a ‘billionaire’ boor. Their lack of competence is not an issue for them, and they bring what is coming next (when our economies implode) unto their own heads. Supporting Brexit or Trump makes one a fool and we must treat them as fools, they deserve nothing more, because the more these leaders lie, abuse our constitutions, cause capital flight, trash our economies, ruin our international standing and wreck our countries the more their supporters love them.

We are literally surrounded by stupid.

On the bright side…

Every fascist, populist party in history have one, rather marvellous, thing in common – complete and utter failure in the end. So, despite the pomposity, the self-satisfied aggrandisement, the rhetoric, the tawdry displays of power, the lies and the deceit, one thing I think we can all look forward to is seeing our respective leaders ending up the sewer of horrible leaders of history. We gonna flush those shits away! Heh.
