Veterans and active military personnel can get a free 6-inch turkey sub and a regular fountain drink at Sheetz on Veterans Day.
Sheetz says the offer is good at all stores, not just in Pennsylvania.
Military identification or proof of service must be presented.
Veterans Day is Monday, Nov. 11.

(9,239 posts)For what they charge for their sheets, they could buy each veteran a subway store. Or better yet, a house.
They're probably great sheets. But no way in HELL I'm paying that much for 'em!

(3,268 posts)I'm a vet, and my brother a a for real combat vet... We are coming up on a date that every veteran reflects on. For myself I reflect on a few friends who were sent to Vietnam and died. For my brother it is a time to recall guys he humped with and shared food and stories and some of his life with who were hideously shot or blown up in a jungle at night and knowing there was no chance of real medical help until sunrise...
On the 11th a bunch of guys will be grabbing "freebies" It won't be me-while I served stateside my largest fear was not driving to the base in time for morning formation. and I don't need a free meal. My brother says he ain't going to be there with all the "Valor Thieves".
We should value all military service but there is an actual dividing line and that line is the "CIB"-the combat Infantry Badge awarded only to infantry troops who have been under enemy fire. You have one or you don't. I don't and my brother does. They now hand out a downgraded medal for non-11B troops that come under fire and it actually looks like the real thing, but it is not.
That sounds cranky but tough shit-Real combat vets don't need a free meal and era vets like myself would be embarrassed to take one
