Notably, among other groups, Trumps not significantly ahead of the Democratic candidates among whites a group he won by 20 points in 2016. About nine in 10 blacks and roughly two-thirds of Hispanics back the Democrats, similar for these groups in recent presidential elections.
Instructive among whites are preferences by gender and education. Trump is solid among non-college-educated white men...

The groups that are fleeing Trump are college-educated white men and non-college educated white women. Trump has hollowed out his own base of support and winnowed it down to non-college educated white men, Republicans, and conservatives. - PolitiusUSA
Coattails for democrats in the senate too? Let's hope voters will vote straight ticket DEMS!

(20,998 posts)Disclosure: Born and raised as a Mormon, and now an atheist, and I do NOT understand how religious people can support the most anti-christian POTUS ever. This is a man that represents just about every sin, from adultery to sloth, from greed to gluttony. And still the so-called religious kneel before him.

(3,166 posts)The great irony there is that Trump really doesn't give a shit about abortion. If one of his wives or mistresses or whores needed an abortion, he wouldn't think twice about paying for it and making it happen.
And those evangelicals would just give him another mulligan.

(3,166 posts)I will never, ever understand how these so-called "good Christians" can support the most amoral, repulsive, rotten-to-the-core man I've ever had the misfortune to lay eyes on. If a Democrat did 1/1000000 of what Trump has done, they would condemn him/her/them and there'd be no atonement possible.

(24,280 posts)"My 401K is doing great". They have no other argument for supporting him and refuse to discuss it. I hate to wish for it, but if the stock market crashed, and I mean big time, Trump wouldn't have 10% support.

(1,981 posts)Trump's "base" didn't elect him. Rank & File Republicans who didn't want Hillary Clinton to be President elected him. His "base" isn't large enough to elect anyone, as its about 15% of the population and about half the GOP at best.
