Got there about 1:45 p.m. and I was the ONLY one there voting! I asked how the turnout had been and they said they'd had about 200 that morning. That's not very many. Hope they were all Dems and the repugs were staying home.
What was your experience if you voted today?

(1,713 posts)that are very politically active in VA and KY ( Lexington actually). I'm hearing very heavy turnout in Northern VA and abysmal turnout in KY. Maybe KY likes Bevin.

(31,909 posts)I was there around 12:30. It rained here all morning, so maybe that kept a lot of people home. We only had a few levies and some township trustees to vote for. I wanted to make sure i voted in favor of the library levy.

(2,220 posts)Got there around 10am. I didnt have to wait, but there was a steady stream of people coming and going in this heavily Democratic precinct. There were also people at the corner handing out Democratic ballots which is something I havent seen before.
The moment I walked into the room, I heard a hearty, Good morning! Welcome! Come in to vote!, an invitation given by a beautiful African woman who was a delight to chat with. I loved the idea that an immigrant was working the polls and making the whole room joyful. For years, we had an old woman I privately nicknamed Helga, the Voting Nazi, for the way she harassed anyone she perceived as younger than her. I reported her to the board of elections many times.
We have new machines this year. They print out your choices, then you put them in a tabulator. More steps, but it was working smoothly. All in all, it was such a nice experience I wish I could go back and do it again.

(66,286 posts)Posted my ballot and Mrs. Aristus' ballot, too. It's such a joy now to hear my wife (a once-staunch Republican) say: "Here. Fill out my ballot. Make sure it's all Dems."
It's just local and municipal elections today. But there are a number of right-wing-sponsored referenda on the ballot. I'm voting against all of them.

(4,656 posts)City Council and School Committee, so nothing of nationwide importance; but the school bake sale was amazing!

(25,908 posts)but I'm not expecting any appreciable wait whatsoever. Three unopposed township officials, one board of education seat with two contestants, and two uncontroversial tax levy issues.

(33,254 posts)Turnout looked typical, but you could drop the entire population of this county in Lexington and the only thing Lexington would notice is the attire and the driving.

(16,420 posts)We had a steady stream when we went at about 1:00. There were no lines like there are in a presidential election, though. Big difference in the number of people. I think this is how Bevin got elected the last time.

Bevin seems even more assholish than the usual repug.

(180 posts)Got there at about 5:50pm and there was a little rush, but me and my brother both got our votes in for the Democratic slate!

(2,785 posts)The guy said I was number 330. I didn't asked about the turnout, but my dad went there later in the day and they said the way it was going they might set a record at that precinct.

(334 posts)The after-work crowd was most women, some with kids. This is an ex-urb, wedged between a suburb and a rural area. There was no line. About 12 voters at voting booths when I arrived. I'm hopeful!

(2,785 posts)might not mean much, but with 1% reporting Bevin lead by 4 points. He seems to be doing worse than the rest of the republicans on the ballot. So that gives me reason to hope Beshear can pull this off.
