Climate crisis: 11,000 scientists warn of 'untold suffering'

The world’s people face “untold suffering due to the climate crisis” unless there are major transformations to global society, according to a stark warning from more than 11,000 scientists.

“We declare clearly and unequivocally that planet Earth is facing a climate emergency,” it states. “To secure a sustainable future, we must change how we live. This entails major transformations in the ways our global society functions and interacts with natural ecosystems.”

There is no time to lose, the scientists say: “The climate crisis has arrived and is accelerating faster than most scientists expected. It is more severe than anticipated, threatening natural ecosystems and the fate of humanity.

No.

And most folks think the "untold suffering" is a gross exaggeration. It's not.

These scientists read the journals and publications in which proposed easy fixes to our most devastating problem are offered. They obviously think we must be doing a great deal more.

It's all I can do not to .... well, you know. I have a kid. She is eminently aware of this impending disaster. As they all are. Honestly, not sure how folks can keep having babies?

The scientists say the urgent changes needed include ending population growth, leaving fossil fuels in the ground, halting forest destruction and slashing meat eating.

Got some fast growing ones. I had the ag extension removed from the place as cotton farming is disastrous to the environment in this day and age. It's going to piss my right wing neighbors off, but I dont give a fuck

So a MAGAt responded to a friend of mine posting about the 11,000 scientists. Their response was a screenshot of a Google search of “how many scientists are there in the world?”

The answer was 7 million.

The MAGAt reasoning?

Only 11,000 out of 7 million scientists are in agreement

There are parallels, as we are animals without predators just like the rabbits of Australia...unless you count other humans.
