Ohio Republicans charged with distributing phony sample ballots in election fraud case

According to a report from a local ABC affiliate, two people have been charged resulting from an investigation into election fraud in Mario, Ohio.

Authorities were looking into whether the Marion County Republican Party was illegally distributing campaign handouts that were designed to mislead people to think they were sample ballots. Now, WSYX ABC 6 reporter Ben Garbarek has revealed that Republican candidate for Marion City Auditor, Robert Landon, and Marion County GOP official, John Matthews, have been charged for distributing phony sample ballots.

But it has Republican candidates identified.

Basically it's the same thing I handed my spouse and my daughter this morning - a pre-marked sample ballot printed from the county board of elections. In our family we use it to make sure that my spouse (especially) doesn't vote for Republican judges (when my spouse doesn't know the party, she will often vote for the female candidate, since party names are not printed on the ballot).

So just an FYI that if that is one's preference or need, one needs to ask for it!

Instead, I presented my ID - the info was keyed into a device that searched the registration digital database and my sig was requested on a device similar to signing for a credit card purchase. (new stylus and screen so it looked pretty much like my signature). A little tickee/washee permission slip was retrieved by the poll worker and given to me along with an unprinted slip of paper in a manila privacy folder. The paper had a corner edge trim. The worker requested I scan the code on my tickee/washee slip through reader device and activate the screen by touching; the permission slip was placed in a bag hung on the outside of the voting unit; I then fed the unprinted piece of paper with the edge trim to the upper right into touchscreen recorder device; made choices and reviewed them; printed and removed paper ballot then put it into manila folder and proceeded to the single "cast ballot" scanning reader line where I inserted it - and received my I voted sticker. Wonder if there will be more of these "casted ballot boxes" available at elections where voter turnout is higher. March primary; November 2020??? Otherwise, it's another guaranteed line from hell.

I think this is the 3rd or 4th way I've voted during my lifetime. The old lever system with the close and cast curtain arms, a scantron system prone to hanging chads; previous networked touchscreen (no papertrail, oh my); now this one. The process did not leave me any less worried about its security.

I will be voting early from now on
