There was this bodega around the corner from me that used to "hire" unemployed neighborhood people for temporary jobs (unloading the truck, stuff like that) and then pay them in food stamps that they had collected from their customers. Of course, this was back when food stamps were actually pieces of paper.

Many of it's employees are forced to use Medicaid and food stamps. They've externalized labor costs to the government rather than pay their workers a living wage.

I was talking about it in more of an indirect sense.

In any case Newt is living in a detached fantasy land where families live on either paychecks or welfare instead of the real world where wal-mart families work full time and still are forced into public assistance programs.

He needs to be called on it.
