(24,455 posts)I'll bet a lot of women probably didn't bother to check his name on the ballot.
Pro-Tip to all Democrats. Let women who are confronted with the issue, - decide the issue. Personal freedom and all.
If you are religious, God(Nature) is the #1 abortion provider, hands down. Do you hate "God"? Maybe that's why the term "abortion" isn't mentioned or discussed in the Bible? Back in the old days, spontaneous abortions happened all the time - remember, no healthcare clinics back in the days of Christ.. They were smart enough not to criminalize the event. Why are Republicans, the "religious" Party questioning this obvious reality?
Maybe Republican men just hate allowing women to control their own bodies and sexuality.

(7,006 posts)This is Mississippi however. Let's run a Choice candidate in the next primary and if they can win it, then great. However, this is Mississippi so understand the mixed feelings being strongly pro-choice here.

(26,044 posts)Mississippi has a really convoluted election procedure put in place during Jim Crow, where the governor has to both win the popular vote AND win a majority of the state legislative districts (thus giving a YUGE advantage to rural conservative voters). If neither candidate does both
the state legislature chooses the "winner." Any guesses which party controls that?

(7,006 posts)Many Mississippi Democrats left their homes and went to the polls. If the vote was the for Hood, it would be HARD for the Legislator to say otherwise.
Either way, this is a workable result in a state that the future was before tonight, non-existent.

(9,988 posts)It's tough out there in the reddest states! There are good people in every state (I can't with the "nuke the South" type rhetoric, the hell with that) and we're rising up everywhere. We can't win everywhere (YET) but it's important to put up a fight!
Having witnessed this in Virginia firsthand, I know that all those hours getting out the vote over the years were well spent. Deeply satisfying results for us.
