IN 1974, Nixon also came to Alabama seeking a friendly crowd

By February 1974, things were starting to look bleak for Nixon. Seeking out a friendly conservative venue, he came to Huntsville, AL for "Honor America Day". I was there, and he got what he wanted - only a few protest signs greatly outnumbered by thousands of supporters. It did little to help him and the move was widely ridiculed. Even "Doonesbury" ran a week-long series mocking the trip.

Now Trump is shopping around for a sporting venue where he will not be loudly booed. Once again borrowing a page from Nixon, Commander Bone Spurs, has chosen Alabama as a safe haven. I hope he is disappointed.

Rank bestowed by Senator Duckworth:

There has been no promotion. There is an ongoing investigation which, hopefully, will result in a severe demotion and lots of KP duty for the errant cadet.
