Early life, education, and law career

Beshear grew up in Fayette, Franklin, and Clark counties and graduated from Henry Clay High School in Lexington, Kentucky. He is the son of Steve and Jane (Klingner) Beshear. Andy's father Steve was the Governor of the Commonwealth of Kentucky from 2007 to 2015.[1]

Beshear attended Vanderbilt University, where he graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor's degree in political science and anthropology. He then attended the University of Virginia School of Law, where he received his Juris Doctor. In 2005, he was hired by the law firm Stites & Harbison.[2][3] He has represented the developers of the Bluegrass Pipeline, which would transport natural gas through the state.[4]

Beshear announced his campaign for the 2015 election for Attorney General of Kentucky in November 2013 to succeed Democrat Jack Conway, who could not run for reelection due to term limits.[5][6] Beshear defeated Republican Whitney Westerfield, and was sworn into office in January 2016.[7][8]

In April 2016, Beshear sued Matt Bevin, the Governor of Kentucky, over his mid-cycle budget cuts to the state university system, which Beshear says Bevin is not authorized to do.[9] On September 21, 2016, the Kentucky Supreme Court issued a 5-2 ruling agreeing with Beshear that Bevin did not have the authority to make mid-cycle budget cuts without the approval of the General Assembly.[10]

across the nation at all levels. We always have young Beshars up the kazoo.

Taking nothing away from son, Andy, but KY was already favorably predisposed to like him and thus Trump's "fear the socialist" lies never took hold. I don't know that that is quite so readily replicated.

3. Young? I prefer qualified candidates who are talented, honest, loyal, ethical...

Young? I prefer qualified candidates who are talented, honest, loyal, ethical, intelligent... those are not traits that are reserved exclusively to the "young". Those qualities in a well-rounded candidate are more important to me than their age. There's also a sweet-spot in someone's life where they have gained the maturity, temperament and demeanor to be someone who represents all of their their constituents (whether it be city, township, county, parish, state or nation) in a way that is respectful and realistic. I'm often amazed at how people frequently place a higher importance on a candidate's youth than they do on the candidate's lifelong experience and lifelong accomplishments. Young and new isn't always better.

Please see our presidential nominees that have won since 1976. All under 54. Youth projects hope and optimism when channeled properly. I can tell you having a 18 year old and being around his crew- they have zero connection with people over 65

8. I get excited by good young

politicians. I have been excited about Beshear for a long time, he was a really good Attny General. The thing about young people going into politics is that without them everybody left becomes ancient then dead.
