A large water main break at Chain Bridge and Glebe roads in Arlington County leaves people in Virginias Arlington County and D.C. without water and shuts down Chain Bridge, as well as parts of Va. 123/Chain Bridge Road and Glebe Road.
The closure is expected to last through the morning rush hour, according to the Arlington County Office of Emergency Management.
A boil water advisory has also been issued for much of Arlington because of the main break. Customers in the area of the highlighted map (below) should bring water to a boil for three minutes, then allow to cool before consuming.

At least thousands of people are being affected in Northwest D.C. alone, according to DC Water. The water main break is approximately 36 inches and the estimated restoration is yet unknown. The repair is being handled by Virginia.
We are interconnected to their system, so the fact that so much water is gushing wildly is impacting our customers, DC Waters Vince Morris told WTOP.
Arlington Countys Department of Environmental Services urges people to not turn on their taps.
