Fox's Diamond & Silk decry alleged liberal war on Thanksgiving: 'Don't tell us what we can and cann

Diamond & Silk decried the so-called war on Thanksgiving with Ainsely Earhardt on President Donald Trump’s favorite morning show “Fox & Friends,” a continued battleground for the conservative culture wars.

Social media personalities and political activists Lynnette Hardaway and Rochelle Richardson, who go by the names Diamond & Silk, told “Fox and Friends” they were upset by a recent HuffPost editorial, which called on Americans who celebrate Thanksgiving to do so in a way that reduces their carbon footprint in order to account for climate change.

“I get tired of people that have lived their life and have eaten meat telling us not to eat meat,” Hardaway said. “Don’t tell us what we can and cannot eat. If you have a problem with climate change, stop driving cars — ride on your horse to work. You do everything you can to fix the climate, but don’t infringe upon my right to have Thanksgiving with my family.”

The Fox News personalities were criticizing a HuffPost article titled “The Environmental Impact Of Your Thanksgiving Dinner,” which was written by Alexandra Emanuelli. In the op-ed, Emanuelli gave various advice for reducing one’s climate footprint on the annual holiday, including replacing meat and meat byproducts with plant-based alternatives, purchasing ingredients from vendors who provide local materials, not wasting food and traveling shorter distances for Thanksgiving dinner.

Despite characterizing the article as an attempt to “cancel” Thanksgiving, Emanuelli writes that “no one should be discouraged from enjoying the holiday or celebrating with family and friends, but we’re here to provide insight into the ingredients and dishes that have the largest ecological impact. The researchers we interviewed shared suggestions and alternative ingredients that cause less environmental damage.”

Idiots. You are constantly reminding all of us just how idiotic you are. I swear, that if I have to listen to another one of these whiners go on and on about literally nothing, they can take it, and shove it into you know what.

We're saying don't buy mass producued garbage. Don't buy a Butterball turkey, buy one that's locally sourced. Don't buy your produce at the grocery store, go to a farmer's market. Just things like that.

I'm sick of the all or nothing attitude coming from the Trump cult.

if D & S were "libtards" there would be 8 million thousand posts from the right saying they should give up some Thanksgiving food and join a gym.

I hope this isn't taken in the wrong way.

on the margins of Trumpworld by having a schtick so phony and lazily constructed that it could plausibly be an elaborate Dadaist prank ... Both women were Democrats until 2015 .. but switched parties, interestingly, the minute it became profitable to do so. Their contrived on-screen personas have been mocked on the left, but also by black conservatives such as Fox’s Juan Williams and CNN’s Tara Setmayer, who have both described the duo as a “minstrel show.” And for all their bluster about supposedly being censored by social media platforms during their Congressional testimony earlier this year, very little of their popularity is attributable to social media — almost every YouTube result for “Diamond and Silk” is a Fox News clip uploaded by the official Fox News account ...

They show up unannounced at Waters’ office in California, where her staff helpfully informs them that the Congresswoman is elsewhere. After doing random street interviews with local residents who complain of homelessness and poor sanitation, they plant themselves across the street from Waters’ house in the L.A. suburbs, where she is also absent. Her grandson asks them to leave and threatens to call the police, at which point Diamond and Silk suddenly appear in Washington D.C. yelling “where are you, Maxine Waters?” at the Capitol Building from 100 yards away. This line of attack is impossibly stupid, even by the low standards of conservative gonzo stunts ...

This is a show. That's all. If you want to get attention and stir controversy, you do things exactly like this. Their are ways to get attention and they are getting it. You can do something more positive or more negative, but if it is a hit and takes off in the zeitgeist, you win. Yet, it adds nothing of real value or meaning. It is mere distraction and nonsense. It is the people who get taken in that are the factor, really. Drama? Trolling? Opinions?

Performances like this work because the media and people buy into the silly noise and take it seriously. Other than that, it is just rabble rousing, popularity and showmanship. To me, it is a symptom of something generally neurotic about modern culture all things considered.

I simply discount it and, these days, I don't consider whatever so-called controversy is being manufactured and presented like that. There are millions of other, more interesting or important things going on right now and this game of The Spectacle is getting more transparent and rather boring, to say the least.
