Breaking the Fever; Lies, propaganda, conspiracy theories and corruption, vs the Truth.

The Senate trial: Our time has come, the American people most soon make a choice. Only the American people can remove Trump from office and save our democracy. Right now the polls are around 50% for removal. After the open hearings if the polls move towards 60% or higher the Republicans will have a very tough decision to make. If the polls do not move, they would not vote to remove Trump.

The Republican party has turned into a party of liars, propagandists, conspiracy theorists and a party of corruption. If this goes to a Senate trial, all of what The Republicans have become will be on trial, not just Trump. The American people will be a witness. They must decide what direction our country takes.

Trump and the Republicans have no defense for what Trump has done. In a normal trial they would plea bargain. However, the Republican party and right wing news media have created a monster that terrifies them, the base. Republicans in congress are now terrified to ever do the right thing because the monster would vote them out.. Why would anyone want to be a member of congress under those terms?

During the upcoming open hearings and possible Senate trial the Republicans will attack anything or anyone who is a threat to them. That will be their defense. It will be an admission of guilt. Will enough Americans say enough is enough?

If this goes to a Senate trial it will be interesting to see how Chief Justice Roberts handles things. Will Trump attack him? Will Roberts allow the Republicans to use lies, propaganda, conspiracy theories as a defense? That's all they got.

Remember when Obama talked about the breaking of the fever of the Republicans? Maybe the trial of Trump and everything the Republican party has become will be the medicine that finally breaks the fever. We all better hope so.

rubles and in terms of other bad behavior, even polls will not move most of them to remove him.

2. I think you might be overestimating how much influence polls have on the GOP.

It's basically zero. They've proven repeatedly that they'll do whatever they want, regardless of what the polls indicate. I'm not sure they're self-aware enough to take polls into consideration, even regarding impeachment. I think they'll do what they always do - circle the wagons and live in denial.

The polls indicated that basically no one wanted another massive tax cut that would balloon the deficit, yet here we are.

The polls indicate that the ACA is very popular, yet the GOP would have no qualms with killing it. That stance likely cost them races in 2018.

The polls indicate that only about 20% of Americans* think abortion should be illegal in all instances, yet the GOP continues passing measures in numerous states to effectively outlaw it and test Roe v Wade.

3. They knew what a fake tRump

is, yet still supported him. He is their "guy" so they will not publicly insult him, or go against him. Privately, I would bet it is a completely different story. How could any one with more than two brain cells NOT see what a liar, unqualified, low life he is? On second thought, maybe since the gop is really the scrapings from the bottom of any barrel, they admire him for being a crook, openly. Look at their representatives, a barrel full of juvenile delinquents, really. No more evolved than anyone in the tRump family of grifters. If they are willing to risk the rest of their "careers" living on taxpayer dole, then let them support him. Truth will out, sooner of later. Hopefully SOONER. The entire world sees tRump for what he is, why does the gop deny this?

4. the talk radio monopoly is trump's only unique advantage and would be very easy to break up

americans can't just wait for those 1500 coordinated radio stations to lead rw media in yelling over the facts and truth

trump's 'support' is based on that - a small minority and a few hundred blowhards on 1500 radio stations blowing in their sails, carrying a large secondary audience of disinterested, too-busy, and disinformed people who would easily support impeachment if they saw the talk radio gods and by extension the rest of the rw media being protested and discredited

artificial intelligence now makes it easy to destroy rw radio monopoly by digitizing it and force the ad industry to democratize it

5. this is an extreme religious fervor that's taken over the GOP

I think we've underestimated the influence of the Christian right.
They honestly don't care about Americans who don't hold these anti gay, anti women, anti non Christian beliefs.. they believe they answer to a higher power that allows them to basically ignore everyone else.

It's really quite terrifying how this extreme, anti democratic Christian cult has had so much influence over our government for the last half century. They represent a minority of Americans, but you'd never know that.

...that has been ramping up for many decades. It's the exact opposite of what their supposed Lord & Savior actually lived and died for. But their graven image is a blue-eyed, white, gun-totin' Jaysus out to wipe out the browns, the blacks and the libtards. Sing hallelujah!

6. It will be interesting to see how Chief Justice Roberts handles the trial..

I agree.

I think he will be a moderating force. He will demand the facts and will have little tolerance for conspiracy theories, in my opinion.

Will it "break the fever"?
