Frivolous lawsuit, I'd say
(CNN)A federal judge has decided that President Donald Trump can't sue New York state officials in a Washington, DC, court, at this time to stop the release of his tax returns.
The case is one of many where Trump or his administration have asked federal judges to intervene before House Democrats obtain Trump's financial records. In this case, Trump had sued New York state and the House to stop Congress from requesting his tax returns under a new New York state law. Congress hasn't yet requested the tax returns under the law.

Everybody is getting this wrong. It doesn't mean anything as to the eventual outcome.

(115,267 posts)that the DC court had personal jurisdiction over the other parties. When the case is refiled in NY, the NY court might (or might not) conclude that the substantive claim is frivolous, but this judge didn't do that.

(12,712 posts)This fiasco represents a big, red arrow, of course.
He dawdled and claimed the audit to his base as if the returns were no big deal. Now, at this stage, he obviously has some important and unsavory reason to not reveal that information. I think that that gets a bit lost in the wash as we watch the lawsuit progress.
I wonder how his base, (and those who are less "loyal" are going to spin this sore thumb? I haven't seen what kind of excuses they are making for their leader when he obviously has something rather important to HIDE. I would like to think that this does give some of them more pause for concern, although there is a huge bag of glaring concerns he has already generated.

(56,827 posts)1) He's not nearly as rich as he has claimed. That will hurt his image as a great businessman and negotiator.
2) Clear evidence that points to money laundering/bank fraud or tax fraud if compared to other NY state/Bank Records
3) Debts held by certain foreign entities that are easily traceable back to Russian mobsters (I doubt he has "IOU Oleg Deriposka $25 million" listed on there - probably a shell company within Trump Org paying a shell company in Cyprus or elsewhere that is a front from Russian mobsters)
