And I don't even believe that all the ones who aren't susceptible to kompromat are vulnerable to financial scandals. Some of them must be worried about being primaried. And some must just be ornery asswipes.

It's just so sad that 20 people, mostly white conservative men, could bring our democracy down by voting selfishly instead of patriotically. A tiny margin but a critical and maybe fatal one. The founders would be horrified that this could actually happen.
