it off the ground as they determine how best to get it on the top of the car, but I know it can be tempting to use out-of-context photos of real people to feel superior about something.

may be to tie the back end of the mattress, supporting your roof idea.

that the mattress is too big to fit in the car, and that this is due to a lack of education or resources in the form of toys that the viewer presumably had access to. That's a shitty joke, IMO.

Also I didn’t take the pic and I didn’t create the meme. So beyond that, I have moved on. If you want to wallow in a dumb joke go ahead.

Nor did I think you created the meme. But by sharing it, it can look like you're saying, "Look at these dumbasses struggling, ha ha," that's all. Life goes on!

Please consider the optics here. Look at the picture. Who is it making fun of? Women? People of color?

I know it’s just a joke. I know you didn’t create it. Can you agree that it is, at the least, insensitive?

The fact that he is there makes it all the more important that we be vigilant about things like this.

Elsewhere in this thread is another version of this meme, and it is, indeed, funny. This one is just mean.

I don't know if I would have reacted differently had I seen the one posted here first - but I see it more as reinforcing the value of simple time-tested mechanical toys that teach spacial perception. A lot of the kids toys currently are time wasters/electronic babysitters.

If I had to classify its target, it would be young people - along the lines of, "when was a kid . . "."

The one you posted is MUCH less mean spirited. We have all seen someone try to cram a carry-on into an overhead bin- most of us have done it ourselves. Your meme does not misrepresent the situation, as the one in the OP does.

I am not trying to start a fight. I appreciate humor wherever I can find it these days. The OP’s version of the meme doesn’t strike me as funny, and although I am sure that the insensitivity was unintentional, it is insensitive nonetheless.

When that happens there are often multiple clones - some better, some less well, executed.

I saw the other one first, immediately recognized this one as part of that meme family, and didn't give it another thought. I might have reacted as you did, had I seen the one in this thread first.
