Hundreds of thousands of Dreamers registered with the US Government to get protection.

Now Trump intends to use that registration data to deport them.

Not just stupid, but evil.

A lot happens between oral arguments and the final decision.

To be honest, I was hoping we would give him 25 billion for his vanity wall in exchange for congressional protection. The wall isn't going to be completed AND he's finding the funding anyway. It was a risky deal to let court decide. If these young adults get deported what difference does it make if we stood "firm".

By using prosecutorial discretion, BHO was able to change these kids' lives...allow them to grow up, get an education and be part of the fabric of the country. BUT...if he held out for a permanent legislative solution to their plight, we'd still be waiting for McConnell to get his ass in gear.

So - we got a less permanent solution, knowing that some asshat republican "could" reverse it but believing that there was enough residual humanity remaining on the right such that it would be allowed to stand.

But - we never conceived of the kind of evil that exists between trump's ears (and in the heart of his immigrant whisperer Steven Miller).

Pisses me off and at the same time, makes me even more appreciative that BHO & Co were able to find a solution that lasted this long. Now, we've got to GOTV so we don't have worry about this chit going forward.

the time to negotiate with Trump is before the SCOTUS hands down its decision. He gets border wall money and some tightening of immigration, and we get the DACA beneficiaries and maybe some others (like TPS immigrants) protected.

Or we can wait to see if John Roberts wants to force us to the table by giving the maximum value to Trump for this bargaining chip.
