How to Defuse the likes of Jim Jordan with nearly 100% success.

.

People like Jim Jordan speak fast to place their victims in an uncomfortable area.

People will naturally adjust their pacing to match their questioner, which opens them to mistakes.

The way you handle people like that is to ask them to repeat what they said more slowly. If they still speak fast, state that you still didn't get what they were saying. This does a few things:

1) It slows the questions down so the ones questioned can think more rationally.
2) It reduces the exposure of misstatements or incorrect statements that they could he hammered on.
3) It exhausts valuable time that the questioner has to work with or drives up their expenses.
4) It throws the questioner off of his game and short circuits their thinking process.
5) It allows the audience and others in the room time to digest the questions and answers.
6) Time would be spent asking more valid questions, since less questions could be fielded.

People like that will try once, try a second time and by the third time they'll realize their method of interrogation is not working, they'll probably stop using it. But, the one questioned needs to be vigilant that they will not get drawn into this trap later on by the same person or another.

If those in front of congress slow the pacing down to normal speeds, a lot of this shit ends.

could they please repeat it.

Then furl you’re eyebrows so you look puzzled and ask them if the question they’re asking is: (repeat a puzzled question so they can say if that is what they are asking).

Or, on the other hand feel free to re-interpret in your own words what you think the question is. At this point you can include what they’re really asking if they trying to obfuscate.

My most ardent wish that he will awaken renewed determination to reveal his complacency in allowing the molestation of young people entrusted to his supervision. I am of the opinion that he derives vicarious sexual pleasure from this type of sex abuse. It is clear that from the testimony that he was aware of what was taking place.

Little guy, everybody around him is at least a head taller. But he still needs to stand out. Some people find the answer in muscle-building and “toughing up” to overcompensate.

Gotta be able to assert dominance some way or other, dontchaknow. Sure can’t do it standing up.

His staff may relay it to him and in turn to the upcoming witnesses.

Even if he already knows this from being a prosecutor, the witnesses may not.

Just retired from a long career as a certified court reporter. I have a few thoughts:

Speaking at warp nine loses your audience completely. I've seen fast speakers crash and burn in many a jury trial, where the jurors after the trial will say, "That attorney spoke so fast, I simply couldn't follow him, so I stopped listening." If folks aren't "getting" what you're saying, they just tune you out.

So Gym's attempt at a big score may be having the opposite effect of what he intended ... even if they play video clips of him on Faux News.

I completely agree with the methods proposed in the post here. I've seen many witnesses handle questioning attorneys that way. When the attorney is trying to confuse the witness, a prepared and knowledgeable witness will say, "Please repeat your question, counselor. I didn't understand you."

even told the jury selection board that I would not make a good jurist...all an attorney (or a witness or judge) would have to do is turn their heads and I couldn't read their lips. I would be constantly asking them to repeat themselves and it would be the truth. Jim is pathetic and a lot of people wouldn't understand him at all. Deliberately distorting his conversation to confuse others.
