Gary Kasparov, widely thought the greatest chess player ever, is certainly a genius. He argues that Putin, and now Trump, attack the very concept of truth. These tyrants try to inoculate themselves from the truth by making people think we cant trust any source, by making them think there is no way to know what is true. That opens the doors wide for tyranny. And is the most damaging thing Trump has done.
