Challenge to caller who thinks immigrants must learn English

While discussing DACA, a Politics Done Right listener called in to complain about immigrants not speaking on wanting to learn English. I challenged the fairness of the accusation.

Many times one's prejudice is not manifested as a slur or poor treatment. Many times one uses some other issues that are pretty much a stand-in for said prejudice. This type is much harder to eradicate because it is not easily called out as such.

There are parts of Dixie where people need an interpreter to be understood. There are some in NYC and Bah-ston too. I've met folks who've never left Wisconsin, yet speak with a southern drawl because all they listen to is C & W radio stations and think it's "cool".

official languages we have here. I've traveled around the world for business and people everywhere
speak English. If I'd only known I could've saved a lot of money on travel guidebooks! (Not true:
when in China I put a guidebook to good use with its listing of questions and answers to statements in various languages, all referenced to Chinese. This was very useful in communicating with the many people I met that had no English.)
