These are some of the descriptions of George Kent and Bill Taylor from Fox's prime time shows: "Two homeless guys." They "looked like people who sat by themselves at recess." And "self-important" bureaucrats.

I may have spoken too soon. I don't know who Terrence K. Williams is, but he seems to have missed civics in high school.

(11,730 posts)I have seen people on DU say that "Republican Congresspeople put Country above Party" and things of that nature. The reality however is that in 1973 and 74, there was no Fox News and there were not thousands of right wing radio stations and websites which served to inoculate their audience to any actual information about the hearings. I am sure people spun it and commented on it, but everyone interested in the hearings, you had 4 television networks, traditional newspapers like the Washington Post and the Times, which meant that everyone was getting the same information.
This article is a good illustration of a fairly large segment of the population, getting a complete fabrication of the actual events unfolding. Nixon would have LOVED having Fox and the rest of the right wing media system to give the right wing spin. I am willing to wager heavily that he would not have resigned had he had what Trump has.

(11,730 posts)If you just immerse yourself in what the author is saying. He muted for one day, all other outlets except Fox. There was a media study several years ago, possibly around the time when President Obama first was elected. It observed that 75% of conservatives only got their information from one source, Fox News. People identifying as Liberals tended to get their information from at least 6 sources. It explained both the high ratings of Fox over other cable outlets, and why conservatives had such a consistently skewed view of the world.

(11,730 posts)He, Roger Ailes (who was his media advisor), and Pat Buchanan dreamed of having a right wing media presence, which became Fox News. Definitely. This was even before Watergate though. Nixon, like Trump thought the media NEVER gave him a fair shot.

(21,745 posts)MSNBC hosts made specific points and illustrated them with clips of the actual testimony.
FOX News simply talked, made general disparaging remarks about Democrats, attacked the witnesses, attacked the process, attacked the whistle blower, the witnesses, the press, and Committee members. Showed no evidence or testimony to back up what they were saying.
