Anyone DUers remember the outrage about Obama's minister Rev Wright?

He preaches about racial inequity. Meanwhile there's a white supremacist running immigration policy from the fucking White House. M$Greedia and ReTHUGs don't appear outraged at all.

Doesn’t care they never did. Their hypocrisy has no bottom. All of the GOP ginned up outrage about President Obama from him pointing out on the campaign trail that proper tire pressure saves gas to the Tan suit, Reverend Wright, saluting while holding a coffee cup, birth certificate, vacations etc, etc, etc. They never actually cared about any of this stuff. It was just red meat for their base.

All they care about is power. Everything that they ever hammered President Obama about DT has done 10x worse. If President Obama had done 1/10000 of what DT has done they would have impeached him immediately.

Can you imagine if President Obama had paid off a porn star to keep an affair quite. That alone would have got them to rip up the OLC memo and charge him in office.

It makes the well off feel good about themselves, and allows them to be pious about their wealth. So they donate.

Trump celebrates it.

And praises any attempts to increase it.

sermons that had been posted online. He challenged you to think and to look at the worst humans can do and to look in the mirror and do an honest accounting of your own thoughts and actions.

I only watched one sermon. He was talking about a passage from the Bible about one group of people harming another - “bashing their babies’ brains out on rocks”. Horrifying, horrifying image.

And...

Current US policies have taken babies from their mothers breasts and caged children of all ages. Draining groups of resources they need to keep their babies alive - abroad - and at home where African American newborns die at twice the rate of non-Hispanic white newborns. The violence may not be direct, but it kills babies just the same.

Murdering infants and children belonging to another people has happened over and over in human history. Native Americans: One way or another, Chivington was determined to have his war. ... "Damn any man who sympathizes with Indians," he said. "Kill and scalp all, big and little; nits make lice."

After the horrific genocide between Hutus and Tutsis in Rwanda, in the reconciliation process, one man confessed to throwing a living newborn from the other group to its death by dropping it in an outhouse pit. He said his wife and he had been terrified into believing that if he didn’t kill all of them, they would come to his house and murder his wife and children. So...

Thousands of children in war-ravaged areas with shocking wounds - including head wounds that removed chunks of their brains.

I saw a part of one sermon given by Rev Wright that shocked me into seeing humanity more clearly. I am still thinking about it a decade later. We have to face reality to do anything about it and human populations can very, very quickly turn from having neutral attitudes about their neighbors to watching or pointing a gun at 1000’s of those neighbors being marched out of town to a nearby woods where they are murdered and buried in mass graves. (Holocaust - Poland)

People accepted the version of Rev Wright as described in sensational headlines on social media.

Rev Wright, as head of U.S. immigration policy, would respect the sanctity of life - all lives.

(That’s my take based on having watched 20-minutes of video. There could be more I don’t know, of course.)

Great comparison you draw here. Every time the MSM discusses tRump like he's a serious president on any level worthy of even an ounce of deference or respect I can only shake my head in wonder.

My husband was upset about it. I said I thought there was more to it and it had been taken out of context. We agreed to listen to the whole sermon, which we found on YouTube, and decide. We listened, and at the exact same moment looked at each other and said, “ He’s exactly right!”

I have a dear friend who was an assistant pastor under Rev. Wright and wrote a book about him. I hear a lot of him in her sermons which are heavily influenced by the social justice work she does.
