Why is "RT America" (Russia Today) running commercials targeting PoC on CNN/MSNBC?

I couldn't find a link to the exact commercial but it's been running for at least a week. It's very slick and features a guy rapping about injustice with lots of inner city and graffiti graphics. It's seems to be targeting disaffected PoC, which is one specific way Russia meddled in the 2016 election. RT has since been forced to register as a "foreign agent" but it seems pretty bold for them to be so openly using our airwaves for their propaganda right before 2020. I can't think of any reasons other than nefarious ones for this push.

Be aware.

why MSNBC and CNN allow them to advertise on their networks. Fuck them. Tell RT to fuck right off.

One of which being Russia. Showing favoritism like that could negatively impact their brand. And if they're not straight up lying (and i didn't see the ad), they may not have a legit justification for quashing the ad.

It was a staple of the KGB since before it was the KGB, as long as it had a mouthpiece in the US and Western Europe. Emphasize how bad things are in the US/West. Sometimes it's for the staff, to remind them where their "real interests" are, sometimes for domestic consumption, sometimes for agitprop in the US/West. Serves all three purposes.

I read no end of this tripe in Izvestiya and even non-"news" things like Literaturka. Even worked its way into Ogonyok, to make sure the Pioneers were properly acculturated into how bad the West was and how wonderful the USSR was. Now it's still "how bad the West is and how wonderful Russia is." Then again, when the USSR said "USSR" it most often meant "Russia" (including Ukraine).

RT used to be cited here with approval precisely for this kind of article. It's always been agitprop. It's not the truth of the facts, it's the conclusions that are often skewed because the facts are incomplete and the comparisons biased.
