Trump's hospital visit looks curiouser and curiouser

There seems to be a sense of urgency in the movements here - this wasn't an ordinary trip. But more telling, is the fact that the doc is riding in the car with Trump.

It's not strange that, if the president is going to a medical appointment, his doctor would go along. But it IS strange for the doc to go in the car with him.

The president's doctor ALWAYS goes everywhere the president goes since they must always be in immediate proximity to him, for obvious reasons. He/she is in every motorcade, on the helicopter, even rides in the same elevator. But while they are usually in a car in the motorcade, they rarely ride in the same vehicle with the president.

Why was the doc in the car with him if he was "fine" and was just going for routine matter?

There's a lot more going on here than they're admitting.

It would explain chest discomfort that turns out to be benign and it would explain him not being hospitalized for further observation. One of my early panic attacks, I thought something really bad was happening and went to the ER, they ran the necessary tests to rule out a problem with my heart or thyroid... then they gave me a mild sedative and within 10 minutes, I was totally normal.

I know, I've had both.

You diagnose a heart attack by the presence of certain enzymes in the bloodstream that unfortunately take an hour or two to appear. They are released by the dying muscle tissue. Until then, they just keep an eye on you (plus interventional meds like blood thinners just in case something else happens).

Sun Nov 17, 2019, 09:56 PM
Nov 2019

only done if cardiac event is suspected
requires 4 blood draws approx 1 hour apart
indicates certain enzymes which are released as heart muscle deteriorates
WH would not have that equipment or the cardiologist to do the interps
tracks changes in those enzymes

It makes a really cool graph that maps out the rise and fall of the levels
Any hospital with a good ER would be capable of doing this 24/7 and I would expect there to be several facilities including Walter Reed which would have this

They probably could have gotten the equipment and the cardiologist to the White House and done the draws there, but that would likely have attracted even more attention than him just going to the hospital - and since Trump's communications team thinks the whole country is as stupid and gullible as his MAGA base, they likely figured their "it's just routine - nothing to see here" lie would fly.

....between facilities and services.

A smallish urban hospital can connect with the most qualified experts in an instant for consultations, day and night. Be assured that the connection between Walter Reed and the WH -- and even between Walter Reed and the motorcade -- is top notch.

And the FIRST test administered to rule out MI now is the sensitive Troponin I. If it shows 0.01-0.04, the other following three blood draws aren't even done. MI ruled out. No heart damage.

See this:

For troponin concentrations 0.40 ng/mL and higher, the underlying cardiac injury is usually a myocardial infarction. Troponin concentrations of 0.04-0.39 ng/mL require serial troponin measurements and clinical correlation to interpret, as further described in the guidelines

Ergo, under 0.04, nada.

Yes, Troponin has serial blood draws. But if the first is nearly zero, they often don't bother with the rest. Been there, done that multiple times.

133. thanks for that update! It has been a few years since I read medical records in my job(s)
Mon Nov 18, 2019, 02:17 PM
Nov 2019

One of my many medical jobs was data analysis for a predictive cardiac study and I got to read all those cool graphs and charts; even learned to read EKGs. The cardiologist directing the study sat down with me and taught me how to read them, and how to decipher many other things. I had to record results of many diagnostic things which were on a list for the study.

We did one with thyroids several years prior.

Also was a claims analyst in various types of Medical Insurance which sometimes required picking stuff apart.

There is also my medical degree from ER, St Elsewhere and Gray's Anatomy !!!

My absolute love of all this stuff made me absorb it like a sponge.

So does Troponin need special equipment that the WH would not be expected to have? Even in the old days a negative result on the first draw would pretty much close the case.

Nov 2019

Someone on Twitter posted zoomed-in frames from the video & it looks like Trump is carrying a rectangular box with some sort of connections on top (tubes? wires to monitor vital signs?) with a manila folder in front of it or perhaps wrapped around it, to hide the box.

I'll try to post a link...

It's the least an honorable chief executive can do - show respect and pride for those who have respectfully given of themselves to serve our country - just like him - and his family, who, of course, have given up so much just to serve with honor and pride to uphold the true TRUMP traditions, as proudly displayed on the family crest -

They will cling to their ideology just like Nazis did when they were defeated. But the nutters will not have a fuhrer in the WH any more. They will look for an alternative but they will be more in the fringes where they belong.

Republicans need idiot characters like Raygun, W, and the Mafioso to be their front guys to appeal to people. Running a serious, capable candidate does not work for them because they can't get support for their policies. They rely on personality cult types who appeal to the worst in human nature and deliver snow jobs well.

It looks like something is pinned to the jacket or otherwise attached. Whatever it is, it is attached to the outside of the sleeve not carried.

Possibilities: Blood pressure cuff, which doctor would be monitoring every 5 minutes on the ride

he was prepped for an IV with the vein stick and initial tubing which was stopped and tied off until he is at the hospital or was on an IV until the MD decided to transport him for the Cardiac Profile and other tests/procedures as needed

He wasn't carrying anything, it was attached in some way to his sleeve. His ubiquitous necktie is missing and the top two buttons on his shirt are undone.

I'd say heart palpitations, severe high blood pressure, or something of that sort. It will be interesting to see how his energy levels appear in the near future. Abusing Adderall, or whatever drug he abuses to keep his energy levels abnormally high, would catch up with him sooner or later. Any Doctor in their right mind would prohibit it's use in the future, but we all know Trump doesn't take "suggestions" from anyone. Hopefully he continues his drug abuse and his heart, which must be the size of a canned ham by now, explodes like Aaron Judge hitting a WalMart piñata. We can't give up hope, anyway.

66. Trump's visit to Walter Reed 'not protocol' for routine visit, source says
Sun Nov 17, 2019, 10:12 PM
Nov 2019

(CNN)President Donald Trump's visit to Walter Reed on Saturday did not follow the protocol of a routine presidential medical exam, according to a person familiar with the matter.

Medical staff at Walter Reed did not get a staff-wide notice about a presidential visit to the medical center in Bethesda, Maryland, ahead of Trump's arrival, according to that source...

The President's motorcade drove to the medical center unannounced, with reporters under direction not to report his movement until they arrived Saturday at Walter Reed. Trump typically takes the Marine One helicopter to Walter Reed, but on Saturday's clear-skied day, the President opted for the motorcade.

That's how the president usually gets there. But going by motorcade is faster than lifting there, so the fact that they drove is another sign to me that this was a medical emergency.

That might explain why they went in an SUV and not in the limousine he normally travels in - perhaps the SUV had certain emergency equipment they couldn't easily manage in the sedan.

It the full motorcade took the MF to the hospital then that would point to something more planned. He also said that the WH has a level 1 trauma center staffed 24/7 so the need for the emergency trip to the hospital is very curious indeed.

You just know Fox News and other RW media will by milking that angle if Trump ever actually suffers a serious medical condition. "Democrats kicking Trump even when he's down!" And all kinds of news stories of a weepy Melania and Barron coming to visit him. And poor Donnie, feeling sorry for himself, actually being quiet and actually looking human. The White House press secretary appeared on Fox News on Saturday night to insist “as he Trump is healthy as can be” and that he merely wanted a “head start” on his annual exam.

Sounds like an incomplete sentence to me. If it later turns out he has a health problem she left herself an out in talking to the press. She meant to say "he is as healthy as can be" considering the enormous stress he is under, he is 73 years old, obese, has terrible eating habits, insist on eating an unhealthy diet, does not exercise, does not get enough sleep and has no friends , and lives a very lonely life which leads to depression.

That's not much of an endorsement. Considering all those things that you pointed out, "healthy as can be" is a very low bar. It's right up there with he's "doing the best he can" (well, that's nice, but it's certainly not an indication of excellence.)

They're saying it's not a heart attack... I'll bet Melanie is disappointed.
