Sherrod Brown wasn't MY savior. Just saw

him on taped Maher show...

Sure many love him. Just thought he was "business as usual" no new thinking whatsoever.

Solid Dem...but not a "shaker-upper". And he said he really didn't want it SO much to pursue it.

Very solid Democrat. I've met him and he is the real deal.

I greatly respect his thinking.

And we definitely need him in the Senate, especially since the Governor of Ohio is a Republican.

Guess with trump our expectations are that we have to have an extremely witty, extremely quick thinking, savvy foe. Sad, but another typical Dem won't do it???

If he laid grown work, he’d be a formidable candidate, but probably not 2020.

He might feel differently in a few years. Even then, he’s pretty much set for life, and deserves it. I’d buy me a place with a good view, a nice guitar or mandolin, and some decent bourbon, and enjoy life.

like Ted Kennedy did. He was wealthy beyond belief. Could have sailed on a yacht and sipped fine scotch every day. But, despite having brothers who were murdered - pains in his body, drug his ass to the Senate every day to fight for the little man. Unabashedly liberal. I want a leader for us like that.

pretty piss-poor job of interviewing him from the top of the interview and it didn't get much better afterward except for Brown inserting attempts to get back to whatever silly point Bill was trying to make after correcting his bs claims. I blame that whole interview nightmare on Bill.

watching him a lot - he either likes you or not from the start. I know people don't like him here but he always always speaks to me and echos what I think. That could mean we are both on some kind of crazy different wave length I am sure.

Why can't he be good at what he does already and decide he is better at legislative responsibilities than executive? And why is that a bad thing?

Every time someone stands up and shows they are truly patriotic and they do a good thing that gets noticed, I see some OP on DU with the title: So and so for president!

Which I find sad and desperate, really. And why does any candidate HAVE to be a savior? Really?

This isn't all up to our candidates, it's also up to us to make clear what we expect of our elected personnel.

Sen. Sherrod Brown has a proven track record and he is passionate about what he stands for and what his constituents want from him. Just because he doesn't see the presidency in his future does not indicate the measure of his passion or dedication to this nation. There are other very important positions in our government besides the presidency.

just fantastically in the House or the Senate. Could it be like NYT said, the PTB in the Democratic party are worried we don't have the "prefect one" ??? The one who we all know will certainly beat the monster? So we are looking out there at anyone who might just be that person?

What is boils down to is indeed desperation, you are right. Desperate to get rid of him.

I have managed to get past that point, I guess. I have used up all my hysteria and am resigned to remain calm and think critically and speak less.

I find relief in the process now getting under way and I agree with the manner in which our amazingly astute Speaker is handling this whole thing. Much of the job of the House is ongoing while the impeachment proceedings commence and carry through to the next stages. It doesn't mean I'm not binge watching the news and the hearings right now either. I've been paying attention to our government for at least the last half century and sometimes from an up close and personal kind of perspective. I'm on total alert and I have decided that I have to just do more listening and reading than responding.

There is a lot of information to digest, too much for a lot of people. Yet, we have to try and pay attention to this thing that is in our faces right now, priority one. It really does mean everything. The election comes afterward. Yes, we need to pay attention to that but I would rather this be settled first then we have a good ten months to deal with the rest of it all.

I'm kind of thinking that NH and IA are going to be throw away primaries this time around due to the impeachment. MoscowMitch is planning to mess up this whole election cycle and the way to get past that is to just not spend too much energy on these two small states for one round because of extenuating circumstances. I'm sure the best candidate will win the nomination when all is said and done.

But I am most interested in getting through the events gripping the world right now and they all hover around the debacle in the WH and their posture as a threat to our national security.

I worry about my fellow travelers here. We've had about all we can take, we need to help each other avoid falling into the abyss of desperation.

Impeachment and removal will not happen. So what then? Election. And that hasn't been protected. Russia will still influence. We hit a roadblock with the Senate...but we haven't worked creatively outside the box to come up with any alternative to protect us. So even when trump escapes Impeachment...we are screwed.

You are so right to be worried about some of us.

It's not like I don't have a few ConLaw and other legal education... it's just that I can only do so much and I do that. I can only hope enough citizens will take up their responsibilities to do what is needed to preserve our Constitution.

I suspect that we aren't hearing about many programs and projects designed to help us protect our elections like the organizations that Pres. Obama and Stacy Abrams have initiated. There are more but we also have to participate.

I like to watch Nancy Pelosi when things get heated, she has a way of presentation that lacks the scare tactic-like attitude. She's dead serious, just not trying to freak everybody out. Freaking out takes up a lot of energy. It is good to try and channel it into something more productive and helpful.

That doesn't mean he owes anyone a run for President. If he doesn't wanna put himself through that, then he just doesn't and that is his right. Leave him the fuck alone and worry about assholes like Joe Manchin (from the state I grew up in).
