Grasping at Straws
You Republicans can rant on about Joe and Hunter Biden from now until doomsday. You can accuse them of everything from not paying fines on overdue library books to selling US secrets to every enemy of our country.
But it doesn’t change the fact that your “pResident” attempted to extort a bribe from Ukraine for his personal/political benefit, which is an impeachable offence.
You can continue your tirades about the Democrats not producing the whistle-blower, and their ‘secret’ meetings with witnesses.
But it doesn’t change the fact that your “pResident” has refused to produce a single witness who has firsthand knowledge of the events being investigated, nor a scrap of paper pertaining to those events – despite subpoenas for both.
You can impugn the integrity of those patriotic witnesses who have come forward, and cast aspersions on their abilities and their honesty.
But it doesn’t change the fact that your “pResident” has demonstrated time and again that he is a pathological liar, and has absolutely no understanding of how to execute the responsibilities of his office.
You can bring up the Clintons and Obama as often as you like.
But it doesn’t change the fact that your “pResident” is the one being investigated, while they are not.
You can continue to make fools of yourselves by grandstanding, making speeches instead of posing relevant questions, and making a mockery of what is a solemn and serious procedure.
But it doesn’t change the fact that your “pResident” stands accused of serious offences against our nation, and has thus far not offered a scintilla of exculpatory evidence in his own defence.
You can whine incessantly about the ‘unfairness’ of the proceedings
But it doesn’t change the fact that by his own actions throughout those proceedings, your “pResident” continues to intimidate witnesses, and obstruct justice.
You can continue to defend the indefensible, while your “pResident” continues to tweet covfefe 24/7 – bullshit which only serves to make himself look guiltier than he already does.
But it doesn’t change the fact that you should have known that someday, it would all come down to where you are right now – trying to protect a “pResident” too arrogant to comprehend that he is not above the law, too stupid to understand that his corruption is now obvious, and too much of a bloviating jackass to realize that all the William Barrs and Rudy Giulianis in the world can’t save him from his crimes being exposed.
It doesn’t change the fact that your boy has cried WOLF! over 13,000 times, and now has zero credibility with the vast majority of the citizenry.
It doesn’t change the fact that after three years of blatantly enriching himself at the taxpayers’ expense, using funds earmarked to support our ally for his personal/political gain would somehow be seen as beyond what your “pResident” would do. In fact, such action is totally in keeping with what he has brazenly done all along – and now everyone is seeing that for themselves.
So you can huff, and you can puff – but it’s your “pResident” whose house is about to be blown down – and your party along with it.
You really should have thought things through before it came to this. If you had, you would have known that you would be left to defend a “pResident” who has no defence, and you’d be standing there like fools waiting to be thrown under the next bus if you fail.
It’s clear that Trump wanted Zelinksy to conjure-up non-existent ‘dirt’ on Joe Biden – and now he expects you to conjure-up a defence where none exists.
So good luck with that.
