When people started to accuse Armstrong of doping, he didn't just deny it. He would bully them with lawsuits and public accusations. He had enough money and power in the cycling world that he could literally ruined lives. Punching down is a favorite tactic of bullies.

If he sues or counter-sues someone he will talk about it.
If he loses the suit, he will settle quietly, no publicity.
EVERYTHING is about image to him, thus money. He openly talks about the Trump brand.
And that makes sense, given his entire business is based the value of his name.
A rapidly depreciating value now.
