Ryan Goodman: Ambassador Kurt Volker faces a serious credibility problem for having denied knowledge or involvement in President Trump and Rudy Giulianis efforts to press Ukraine to investigate Joe Biden. He also appears to have lied about a crucial July 10 meeting at the White House and other related matters. Volker faces a serious legal liability problem too. He made these apparent false statements to Congress in his deposition under penalty of law.
This chart presents detailed information comparing Volkers testimony to the testimony of at least eleven other current and former U.S. officials whose statements contradict what Volker told Congress.

(7,733 posts)We dont already know. This is why the closed sessions are so important. Keep the witnesses from comparing notes.

(82,849 posts)That is one of the reasons why you take the first deposition in private session, so that the witnesses can't tailor their testimony to what others said. (The other major reason is to sanitize any references to sensitive or classified information.)
Volker is going to have to do a high-wire act without a net to avoid perjuring himself or displeasing Trump. Good luck with that, Kurt.

(23,152 posts)One by one, we have to beat the truth out of them. I'm so seething with contempt for them that I wouldn't care if they were tortured to get that truth out. I'm fed up with them, and it's time they all got with the program, and told us the freakin' TRUTH!

(38,414 posts)..Perhaps Volker will be convicted and then pardoned. But Volker will indeed be convicted. Volker was sure he could, "get away with it." NO.

(4,341 posts)Not sure if it was Gym Jordan who asked about Volker and she answered "I am sure he felt he was doing the right thing at the time." She knew he had gone astray.

(564 posts)I thought he was a straight up career guy, now I learn he volunteered for the position and now he lied twice. He lied the first time by not telling the truth and not telling the full truth of what he really knows is the second lie in my book. Was he gonna be in on the Gas deal too? Or, some other deal? Seems that there are more underlying reasons why all this un-coordinated lying is going on. There's one main story still not fleshed out! And it smells like Mercaptan!

(8,203 posts)introduction deserve an award...Volker is in deep chit...I must be a slow reader..took me 2 hrs to read thru..I read Williams and Morrisons transcripts this week-end...is very helpful to have had that insight to be able to digest this chart.....
Just Security is working overtime to help the public understand we have a clear and present danger in the WH..as well as rogue evil doers lurking in our National Security...
If you have the time, I strongly suggest reading this chart..Ryan Goodmans introduction sums it up perfectly ..why Volker is in deep doo-doo - as well as Sondland..
