Whenever the military is required to appear at the White House or Congress for meetings or to testify, it's required that they wear their dress attire. The episode I recall is when Sam asked somebody from the Navy about it and she told him it's required, hadn't he noticed before?

I just assume it was correct as whenever active military personnel appeared, they are always in dress attire. Retired military will wear civilian clothes - the example I recall is Oliver North.

I just recall when there were active duty personnel in the house, back then I was referred to as the dress uniform.

In the civilian services, the uniform I wore did have components of the uniform that are still referred to as "dress" uniform components, so I guess I was going by both for reference.

At this time the army does not have an equivalent to the Marine uniform pictured.

The correct army uniform would be the blue ASU, which Lt Col Vindman wore

When I was considering enlisting I considered all 5 branches of service.

They were all in the same office so it was a pretty open discussion.

We all sat around bs' ing about all the various merits of each branch of the service.

Finally the Navy Recruiter asked me if I liked camping.

I told him I hated camping...

He told me...you might want to think about joining the Navy....the Army, Air force and Marines f***ing love camping.

The Coast Guard didn't have any openings at the time so my Navy enlistment was a done deal on the spot.
