CBSN just floated the idea of the House "possibly" deciding to only "censure" Trump

Just a theory, I know.

"A slap on the wrist, we're watching you, don't do it again" is how it was characterized.

Saying it would take "a Bolton" to bring this to the point of getting traction in the Senate.

I'd rather see an impeachment vote that gets snuffed in the Senate. At least the House could walk away knowing they'd fulfilled their duty.

...bills were excessive this month so I have Sling on hold until Thursday. That means the only live TV news I have access to until then is CBSN via Roku.

They were doing a laundry list of what "could" happen. Whether that option shows up in any other conversations, I don't know.

I don't see it as a possibility...I think there's more than enough for a vote in the House, even if it goes along party lines. Censure would be a concession that there's not enough for the Senate to convict. There's enough.

I see the evidence will be so damning that several House Republicans will also vote to impeach - maybe just some of the retiring House members, but anybody more than Amash and we can call it a bipartisan impeachment.

matter in a civil trial.

You don't censure for using your executive power in an attempt to fix an election while also extorting one of our allies for your personal gain.

At some point they need to put up a poster board showing both Clinton and Trump and the impeachment charges.

"wrapped up by the holidays." It's just another effort to steer the narrative. Nobody's going to engage on a serious level.

Bolton is just the latest goalpost. Whether he testifies or not, a new set of goalposts will come along.

along with Impeachment. But, now that impeaching? Can you do both?

Guess by censuring (in lieu of) the point is expediting. McConnell could drag out the Senate trial just to bolster their talking point that we are behind nothing getting done.

How would you transition to it? Just say you aren't writing up articles and Censure instead? That would piss off millions of Dems.

He will be impeached and it will be sent to the Senate for trial.

If the repugs don't convict that's on them and their party will run a recently impeached candidate for president.

And with all the revelations of trump's corruption coming to light from the hearings, an impeachment brand on an already unpopular candidate does not bode well.

Trump wil have articles of impeachment voted and pass in the house, McConnel will use Merrick Garland excuse and not hold a trial and a record number of voters in 2020 will create a democratic tidal wave.

The Senate does not have a choice in the matter regarding accepting it. McConnell in this matter is not the Senate Majority Leader. The Supreme Court Justice takes over.

That motherfucker continues to tamper with and harrass witnesses in real time, obstruct justice, reconstitute government to become the operations arm of his mob syndicate, and to misinform and rally up his proponents to do harm to his ideological opponents.

If Trump doesn't go down for his lifelong crime spree, honestly, what the hell does rule of law mean?
