Look at these ridiculous headlines on CNN:
"GOP senator: "I don't necessarily agree" with Trump's actions"
Good that he doesn't "agree" with bribery.
"These GOP senators say they haven't watched the hearing"
McSally
Cotton
Alexander
etc.

Conryn's full quote:
I dont necessarily agree with it. But you can disagree with the action and ... believe (that) this is not a reason to tear the country in two a year before the election.
Disgusting.
Fortunately Trump is definitely getting impeached by the House with full justification.

(23,479 posts)I hope that happens. But, I would not be surprised if most Americans ignore it and the senate lets them off the hook.

(5,443 posts)It's just where it always is, darkened by corruption. These self-interested politicians won't change their tune because Trump's base will stand with him come hell or high water.

(32,626 posts)anything would cause the GOP to turn. It's not in their best interests. This is just the Ukraine. My god, can you imagine what else is under the huge pile of GOP poo?

(16,072 posts)they don't understand "ethics". Nor do they understand criminal behavior actually being a problem for their side.
If it were a Democrat, they would have an entirely different view of this.
So, back to the usual: party over country, 100% of the time.

(10,095 posts)But hell be impeached. These ass holes will be in the history books of tomorrow. I just hope most of them are thrown out in the next election. But Trump is getting to be a real liability who knows?

(146,255 posts)There's more to come. Just wait. However, Trump can short-circuit the entire thing by resigning. If enough people whose names have not been brought up can be tied into all of this, pressure will be put on Trump to resign. I suspect that pressure has already begun. Characters like Mitch McConnell and others in the Senate, may well have dirty fingers from the pie. Threaten them, and they will protect themselves as best they can.
Putin has his hands on the throats of a lot of people we don't actually know about, I'm sure. He will call the plays from the booth.

(16,294 posts)Short of him getting caught on video with something extremely salacious or bad theres no way they would even entertain the thought of removing him. In short, there is no threshold.

(16,072 posts)in public and the Republican party and all of its members would come up with a reason why it had to be done, it wasn't even illegal, and besides, that three year old had it coming!

(3,363 posts)They're going to let the most criminal man in US history get away with it, and then we have to rely on a rigged 2020 election to stop him. It's disgusting and does not bode well for the survival of America.
