Wow from Fiona Hill: Based on questions & statements I have heard, some of you on this cmte appear to believe that Russia & its security services did not conduct a campaign against our country & that perhaps, somehow, for some reason, Ukraine did. This is a fictional narrative.

OP
From what I remember of her earlier deposition, Dr. Hill does not suffer fools gladly.

It's really a shame we purged the baggers from our Thanksgiving dinner table. (No not really.)

The contrast between her and shit-stains like Nunes is stark indeed.

(21,280 posts)3. I keep waiting for Democrats
to confront Republicans about Crowd Strike and the server having originated from Putin. Someone should ask them why they are promoting Russian talking points?
Democrats shouldn't get in debates about these nonsensical conspiracies but they can mention that they come from Russia.

Chairman Schiff and other members have this under control.
He will leave us with our jaws dropped just in time for the family reunions next week.

(4,690 posts)7. It's not primarily about Biden or Ukraine
It's about Russia and Putin. Seth Abramson has been arguing that point for some time. Recent example:
1/ Democrats and some analysts have inadvertantly played into GOP talking points by making it look like Democrats have lit upon a "new" topic to impeach Trump over, when all of this (the Mueller Report and the present hearings) exist on a single, harrowing Trump-Russia continuum.
2/ Trump's motives as to Ukraine were informed by his own, aides', allies', associates', and agents' collusion with the Kremlin. To imply this was mainly "about" Biden is false; it was mainly "about" Putin, Clinton, Manafort, the 2016 election, Russian war crimes, and sanctions.
3/ Moreover, the Mueller Report laid the groundwork for a future bribery probe involving Trump and the Kremlin (over Trump's secret 2015 real estate deal with the Kremlin) and *these* hearings are *also* about a course of bribery in which the Kremlin is a key (outside) influence.
4/ So many of the problems with the framing of what's happening can be traced to this benighted need to direct attention *away* from the actually *damning* Mueller Report. Politicians can do that if they like, but I don't think analysts and other journalists should. My two cents.
