I could only watch or listen to limited amts of the hearings, but it is very, very clear that -

the gulf between Democrats/Liberals and Repubs/Conservatives is completely huge and real, and the realities for each group are completely different.

Looking at characters like Jordan and Nunes, not to mention people like Meadows, Castor, Mulvaney, Miller, Conjob - these people raise vomit in our throats, they are so horrendous. Yet, these people are heroes to those in the trump cult.

What we are seeing in this country is baffling - a true cold civil war between two groups of people with absolutely nothing on common. One can't distinguish truth because they've been propagandized for decades by hate radio and TV - they NEED to be told, they are complete authoritarian victims - a cult. Our group craves openness and truth and honesty - we are curious, we are empathetic.

I have no idea how this story will end - and I can't say whether this is as bad as it could get, or has ever been - but all I know is that it is pretty fucking bad.


For those that watched all or the majority of the hearings, I'd love to get your thoughts. Was enough done? Were the crimes clear enough to start cracking the cult? Was it compelling enough, when viewed in total, to start to peel away repub senators?

From what I heard or saw, we have remarkable people on our side - our Democratic members of the investigative committee did the country, themselves, and us proud. Sad that all the other side will do, because of their bitter envy and self loathing, is to deny what was so obvious to us.

7. I think we've been witnessing the splitting up of the Republican party

It’s important to realize that the MAGATS, the Sara Palin ‘real Muricans’, the Neo Nazi Nationalists and the Evangelical cult followers are part and parcel of our American citizenry. They’ve always been there and they will continue to be.

The difference is that they’ve only recently become a political force that has power in our government. Whether we saw it coming or not, they are here to stay. This means that our Cold Civil War is going to continue though it may be altered drastically if the MAGATs follow through in building their political power.

I believe they are going to peel off from the Republican Party because in their opinion the Republicans are too middle of the road moderate. MAGATs will form a new party for themselves because they don’t care if our government is torn apart. They are quite willing to do their part in the destruction. They may even believe that the demise of the a Republican Party is a good thing.

The Result will be that what is left of the old time Republican Party will lose all the power they strove for. Their destruction will have come from within.

Of course the same thing can happen in the Democratic party, with Progressives splitting off from the middle of the road Democrats. But I think the Republican split will come first. I think it’s happening right now, and accelerating with every step towards impeaching Trump or the possibility of his defeat in the elections,
