Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsListening and watching the impeachment hearings today there have been many reTHUGS who
commented on the Steele Dossier having been funded by the DNC. While this is partially correct, it's
my understanding from the beginning of my knowledge about the Dossier that it was first funded by
the RNC then abandoned by them, then the DNC went ahead with funding.
Steele sent his dossier to the FBI, no matter who else got it. Also as I understand even recent reports about the Dossier is that it's information is substantively correct. In light of what I know why hasn't there been Democratic push-back against the reTHUG lies today? That bothers me and can only encourage the reTHUGS to double down on their falsehoods.

They later decided not to pursue it, and Democrats paid Fusion GPS to pick up where they left off.

(25,240 posts)and it puzzles me that the Dems don't refute the Repugs claims.
Also - it's one thing that oppo research is done by candidates running against each other in the course of a campaign. This is a legitimate action. It is another thing that an incumbent president uses the power of office to extort a foreign nation to dig up dirt on an opponent.

(11,830 posts)as I was surprised when I heard that first it was the DNC and Hillary Clinton.
I hope, somehow, the answers that folks have given below (or above) get aired and into our memories.

I would like to see quite a bit more pushback on this.

(73,528 posts)a group to research Trump was done by a republican, he did not pay for the dossier. The hiring of Mr. Steele came after the Democrats gired the same group. The republican who had hired them was a Jeb Bush supporter, and after Jeb's uninspired campaign was put to sleep, the guy bowed out.
